Madada
Supporting adolescent and young women to navigate menstrual hygiene challenges through interactive sessions
Menstruation still carries silence and stigma in Mathare. Girls miss school, face harassment, and lack accurate information and affordable products, while boys and adults are rarely part of the conversation. MADADA breaks this silence. Using an interactive, peer-led sexual and reproductive health methodology developed with Fryshuset, the programme equips young women with knowledge, confidence and each other. It also brings young men, parents and teachers into the discussion, because menstrual dignity is a community responsibility, not a girls' problem to manage alone.
