Many learners in Mathare carry pressures that no classroom timetable accounts for: household responsibilities, insecurity, peer pressure and the pull to drop out. Our after-class sessions give students a safe, trusted space to talk about these realities and build the confidence to handle them. Led by trained Young Mentors who grew up in the same neighbourhoods, the sessions strengthen relationships between learners, teachers and parents, so that schools become places where young people are heard, not just taught.
