Young Leaders

Structured training and hands-on experience for young people stepping into leadership roles in their communities

In Mathare, young people are too often talked about rather than talked with. Decisions that shape their lives are made in ward meetings, school boards and community forums where they have no seat. The Young Leaders pathway changes that. Through structured leadership training, mentorship and real assignments within Mwelu programmes and community structures, participants build the confidence, skills and adult allies they need to take up recognised roles across all eight wards. The goal is not to prepare young people for leadership someday, but to position them as leaders now.
